Autometer Oil Pressure Gauge (electrical):
NPT brass fittings needed: (got mine at Pep Boys) 1 1/4in. female T 1 3/8in. male to 3/8in. male 2
3/8in. female to 1/4in. male reducer If your gauge's sending unit didn't come with a 1/4in. adapter, you will need
to purchase a 1/8in. female to 1/4in male adapter. Note: These fittings can be configured differently, however,
the way I did it seemed to be the easiets and I also recommend using teflon tape on all the fittings to ensure you have no
leaks. Jack the car up and support it with just enough room for you to have access to the back of the engine block.
Don't rasie it too high or you might not be able to reach the OE sending unit. On the back lefthand side of the
engine block (up in front of the driver), you will barely be able to see and reach the OE oil press sending unit. It's black
with a green wire harness on it. Don't use the one on the lower righthand side...wrong one! You will spend most of the time
using your sense of touch since it's almost impossible to see the unit while working with it. Once you get the wire harness
disconnected, remove it with a sending unit wrench (1 1/16in.) or I used a 26mm box wrench cut in half. Yes I actually cut
a perfectly good Craftsman wrench in half. There wasn't enough room for me to use it. Take the 3/8in. male to
3/8in. male and screw that fitting into the block. Take the 1/4in. female T fitting and screw it onto the 3/8in.
male using the middle opening. Take the Autometer sending unit with the 1/4in. male adapter on it and screw it
onto one end of the T fitting. Take the OE sending unit with the 3/8on. female to 1/4in. male reducer and screw
it onto the other end of the T fitting. That's it! Reconnect the OE wire harness and connect the wire fromt your
new gauge to the new sending unit. Now as far as the wiring goes: I connected the power wire to the
cigarette lighter wire since it is a switched power source and I felt it to be a lot easier than searching for the ingnition
wire. Connect the ground wire to a screw on the car somewhere. Run the wire for the sending unit through the fire wall to
the unit. I only wanted the gauge to light up at night when the lights were on so I spliced into the parking lights
for that. If you remove the lower dash panel and expose the wires to the left of the steering wheel, you will find a green
wire with a white stripe....this is the wire for the parking lights. Then connect the ground wire in the same fashion as the
other ground wire. I also installed an amber bulb to match the interior lights....looks real nice. Your done! Start
your car and enjoy your new oil pressure gauge....and don't forget to check for leaks just in case.
Autometer A/F ratio gauge:
Connect the power wire to your cigarette lighter.
Connect the ground wire
to the car.
Connect some more wire to the purple wire and run it through the firewall to the PCM between the driver's
side shock tower and the fuse box. Remove some of the wire loom away from the upper wiring harness and you will find a white
wire with a black stripe on it, this is your O2 sensor wire you need to splice into.
That's it!
Autometer
Voltmeter Gauage:
Connect the power wire to the cigarette lighter and the ground wire to the car.
